The Eucharist is a wheat cookie and wine that is turned into the literal flesh and blood of Jesus Christ when a Catholic priest mutters prayers over it (transubstantiation), according to official Catholic doctrine.

Catholicism claims to have the exclusive ability to give you the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, by way of eating their magic cookie.

This is Catholicisms version of what non-Catholics call communion.

Non-Catholic Christian’s practice communion as instituted by the Lord Jesus Christ, we eat bread and wine when we gather for church, Jesus said to do this in “remembrance of me” (Luke 22:19). We are remembering Him and looking forward to seeing Him again, we are not eating Him.

Does the Bible teach that the wheat and wine becomes the literal flesh and blood of Jesus Christ?

Catholics use John 6:48-58 to teach that we must consume Jesus’ literal flesh and blood. Fortunately we don’t have to guess what this passage means, Jesus is asked by His disciples what the interpretation is, here’s His response …

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. - John 6:63

If Jesus says the interpretation is spiritual and His flesh “profiteth nothing” why would a Catholic still try to cannibalize Him?

We know Jesus wasn’t saying to literally eat His flesh and drink His blood because He made many other similar spiritual statements in the same book (John), these are called the great “I am” statements of Jesus Christ.

“I am the bread of life” - John 6:35, 48, 51 (The chapter Catholics use to teach literally eating and drinking Jesus.)
“I am the light of the world” - John 8:12; 9:5
“I am the door” - John 10:7, 9
“I am the good shepherd” - John 10:11, 14
“I am the resurrection, and the life” - John 11:25
“I am the way, the truth, and the life” - John 14:6
“I am the vine” - John 15:1, 5

Who would see all these similar statements from Jesus that are spiritual, but then decide we are to literally eat His flesh and drink His blood, even after being told by Jesus Himself He was speaking spiritually?

A literal interpretation would contradict the rest of John’s gospel, as we are repeatedly told that eternal life is given to those who believe (John 3:16, 5:24, 6:40, 6:47, 20:31) not eat Him, and it would contradict the rest of the New Testament as salvation and forgiveness of sins is always based on believing the gospel of Jesus Christ, nowhere after this passage are we told to eat Him for salvation.

What does John chapter 6 actually teach?

It’s summarized in verse 35:

And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. - John 6:35

And again ...

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. - John 6:47

Believing on Him for eternal life, Jesus uses bread as an illustration. In John chapter 4 and 7 He uses water to teach likewise …

But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. - John 4:14 If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. - John 7:37

Why don’t Catholics try turning Jesus into water also?

The scriptures interpret themselves (2 Peter 1:20). Catholics have added their doctrines to the Bible rather than submitting themselves to the already revealed word of God.

Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. - Proverbs 30:5-6

The Bible forbids drinking blood in both the Old and New Testaments

(Genesis 9:4; Leviticus 17:10-14; Deuteronomy 12:23; Acts 15:20,29)

But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood. - Acts 15:20

Does the Bible teach the Catholic Church has the exclusive ability to give you Jesus Christ’s sacrifice on the cross?

One Mediator only:

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus - 1 Timothy 2:5

No priest stands between you and Christ’s finished work.

All believers are priests, no exclusive class:

Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. - 1 Peter 2:5 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people… - 1 Peter 2:9 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father… - Revelation 1:6

There is no special caste that alone can give you Jesus. Every believer has access.

Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus - Hebrews 10:19

The temple veil was torn (Matthew 27:51). You come directly by the blood of Jesus, not through a human administrator.

Salvation is never restricted to an exclusive ritual, church or system. Anyone, anywhere can repent to God and believe on Jesus Christ in order to receive His payment for their sins. See how Jesus and the apostles preached salvation…

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. - John 3:16

Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. - Acts 20:21

…what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. - Acts 16:30-31

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. - Romans 10:9

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. - Romans 10:10

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. - Romans 10:13

The Catholic Church has monetized Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, you no longer can receive His payment for your sins by way of repentance to God and believing on Him (Acts 20:21; Rom. 10:9). In Catholicism you receive Jesus sacrifice by eating the Eucharist wheat cookie, that only the Catholic church can magically transform into Jesus. Along with the other proprietary Catholic Sacraments.

The hallmark of a false religion is restricting salvation and access to God to only themselves.

Does the Bible teach a continuous “re-presenting” of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, or does it teach that His sacrifice on the cross was once and for all?

“for this he did once, when he offered up himself.” - Hebrews 7:27

“by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us." - Hebrews 9:12

"but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself." - Hebrews 9:26

“So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many” - Hebrews 9:28

“By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.” - Hebrews 10:10

“But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;” - Hebrews 10:12

“For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.” - Hebrews 10:14

"there is no more offering for sin" - Hebrews 10:18

"For in that He died, He died unto sin once" - Romans 6:10

"For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God” - 1 Peter 3:18

“It is finished” - Jesus (John 19:30)

Can a Catholic priest transform a wheat cookie and wine into Jesus Christ?

A Catholic claiming they have the right or ability to magically transform Jesus into bread and wine and “re-present” Him is nothing short of blasphemy.

You can’t bring Him down from heaven or bring Him up again …

Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:) Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach - Romans 10:6-8

Instead of “re-presenting” Him, we preach this for salvation from sins...

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. - Romans 10:9 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. - Romans 10:13

You call on Him, not eat Him.

Does the Bible command or give an example of a priest muttering prayers to turn wheat and wine into Jesus’ flesh and blood?

You would think that if God ordained a priestcraft ritual to magically turn wheat and wine into the literal flesh and blood of Jesus Christ, there would be instructions or an example of this practice in the Bible. There is no such thing, the Catholic Eucharist ritual is not explained in the Bible, anywhere. Catholics take the few verses about Communion and add the Eucharist ritual to them. If you are to take these verses by themselves they teach a simple breaking of bread and sharing of wine in “remembrance” (Luke 22:19) of Jesus Christs once and for all sacrifice (Heb. 10:10). These verses do not include instructions for a priest to magically transform the bread and wine into the literal flesh and blood of Jesus Christ nor do they suggest we are “re-presenting” Jesus.

What does the Bible teach about communion?

It was instituted by the Lord Jesus Christ…

And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you. - Luke 22:19–20

Why do we have communion? Jesus said it’s “in remembrance of me”.

The two key verses on communion after the crucifixion ...

That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come. - 1 Corinthians 11:23–26

The emphasis is a memorial, the bread and cup are symbolic. Confessing this would have had you tortured and murdered by the Catholic Church during the inquisition (1231 - 1834)

The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread. - 1 Corinthians 10:16–17

If communion is the literal flesh and blood of Christ, we Christians would then be literal bread also according to this passage.

Bible: Communion is a symbolic service done “in remembrance of me” - Jesus (Luke 22:19)

Catholicism: Communion is how we literally eat Christ's flesh and drink His blood, we only can give you Jesus’ sacrifice to eat, and you must receive it from us weekly for the rest of your life.

Did the Catholic Church kill and torture Christians for denying their Eucharist?

Yes especially amongst the Albigensians who were non-Catholic Christian’s in Europe before the reformation. Denying that the bread and wine becomes the literal flesh and blood of Christ was enough to get you heinously tortured and murdered by Catholic authorities.

Does the Eucharist enslave people to the Catholic Church?

The Eucharist along with the other Catholic sacraments result in a exclusive system of salvation. You can only be saved through their church, and the salvation they offer is a process, you will be in bondage to their rituals and traditions for the rest of your life.
