Bible Versions
Most Christians don’t realize this but modern Bible versions have removed verses, phrases and words.

The changes are frightening, Jesus becomes Satan in Isaiah, Jesus is made a liar in John, the Blood of Christ is repeatedly removed, sinners are no longer called to repentance in Matthew/Mark, I could go on. (The Attack on the Bible)

The question is why these changes? The standard reply is “we have better manuscripts now” Is this true? It turns out these “better manuscripts” are really just Vaticanus & Sinaiticus.

So are they of God? Does God want us to trust them? Lets take a quick look...

Origins: Gnostic Christians in Alexandria Egypt.
Preservation: Catholic Church.
Contents: Both have the Apocrypha mixed in as scripture. Sinaiticus adds the Epistle of Barnabas & Shepherd of Hermas. 1/4 of the Bible is omitted, even Jesus' bodily resurrection is cut from the gospels. Vaticanus cuts 749 sentences, 452 clauses, plus 237 other words in the gospels alone.
Pathway to Prominence: Popularized by Westcott & Hort (1881). Westcott taught Gen. 1-3, the return of Christ, Heaven/Hell are not literal nor were Abraham and Moses real people, contacting the dead, purgatory and idolized Mary. Hort was an evolutionist, denied a literal Devil, Angels, Hell, and Christ’s atonement as sufficient. He taught Catholic purgatory and sacraments.
Culmination: Westcott & Hort’s work conceived the N-A/UBS Greek text that underlies all modern Bible versions, new editions are made in conjunction with the Vatican. When you hear the phrase "oldest and best manuscripts" they are referring to Vaticanus & Sinaiticus.
