The term “King James Onlyism” was invented by Bob Jones III back in the 1980s. As a leader in the educational field, he was quite naturally “aped” immediately by a dozen Alexandrian offshoots. The first thing he came out with was “Ruckmanism,” and then he came up with “King James Onlyism.”

Note the “isms.” The suffix would indicate a false teaching like Communism, Mormonism, Catholicism, Arianism, etc. It is the typical Catholic way of labeling people who didn’t agree with “the Church”; it is as old as the Popes.

Every apostate Catholic in the Dark Ages was taught to call Bible believers after the name of a man so he would think they were unorthodox and heretical, and, therefore, were following a man instead of God (in this case, “God” being the Roman Catholic Pope who called himself by God’s title—“Holy Father,” John 17:11). The words Donatist, Montanist, Novatianist, Arian, Arnoldist, Waldensian, Lollard, Lutheran, Calvinist, Wesleyan, Hussite, etc., were all terms made up to lead you to believe somebody was following a man instead of the Roman Catholic Pope, so that person couldn’t possibly be a “Christian.”

The Holy Scriptures themselves herald that if you are “heretical” enough to accept the King James Bible as your final authority to the exclusion of 233 other corrupt English translations, you will not only protect your family, but you will protect your nation from real false teaching. You will also preserve revelations that no Hebrew or Greek scholar, following any set of Hebrew or Greek manuscripts, was able to find.

For an example of what I just said, I will take the New King James Version and place it on the same shelf as the ASV of 1901, the NASV of 1973, etc.; and then I will show you how “King James Onlyism” will safeguard you theologically, practically, and spiritually from the diseases with which Bob Jones III tried to infect you by scaring you with ridicule.

Here is “King James Onlyism” in application; i.e., when you take that position, this is what you find.

1.  Only the King James Bible puts the rich man of Luke 16 into Hell. In the other versions, he doesn’t go into Hell; neither does Jesus Christ, although in a King James Bible He goes through Hell after the Crucifixion (Acts 2:27). The word Hell had not been translated in any other English version: it is in “King James Onlyism.”

2.  Only the King James Bible has Gentile money for the Gentile believer in the Church Age as an English “pound” (Luke 19:24); if anybody else has that, they copied it from the King James.

3.  Only the King James Bible gives you “mansions” in Glory (John 14:2). The versions I listed above (NKJV, ASV, NASV, NRSV, NIV) don’t give it. It’s found in “King James Onlyism.”

4.  Only the King James Bible magnifies the Deity of Christ in Acts 4:27, 30. All the other “Bibles” used or recommended by Bob Jones III, Charles Stanley, Billy Graham, and Chuck Swindoll strip His Deity from Him in those verses.

5.  Only the King James Bible shows you that a male “lamb” will not bleat at the shearing (Acts 8:32), although a female lamb will. The word “his” has been altered in Acts 8:32 in the NKJV because the stupid asses who made the translation meddled with the verse because they thought there was a contradiction with Isaiah 53:7. That was because none of them had ever been a sheep herder.

6.  Only the King James Version reveals that the native Greek-speaking Greek scholars—the highly intellectual “original Greek” boys—are “superstitious” (Acts 17:22). This sin of all pagan idiots has been carefully glossed over with a more positive term in all the other translations.

7.  Only in the King James Bible does Paul stand upon “Mars’ hill” when he addresses the mutton-headed Athenians who were so fickle that they wanted to hear him tell something new (Acts 17:21–22).

You see, if it was “King James Only,” it would still be right. Frankly, our students here use 28 different translations in class. We don’t “use” just the King James: we’re not “King James Only.” What upsets these apostates so badly is that when it comes to final authority, we believe the King James is it, and they don’t. The facts have a way of upsetting things pretty badly; here is another example.

8.  Only the King James Bible reveals that Christian educators and Greek scholars pervert the truth by holding “the truth in unrighteousness” (Rom. 1:18). All other versions covered up that sin, including the ones recommended by John R. Rice and Curtis Hutson.

9.  Only the King James Bible reveals that Christian educators change “the truth of God into a lie” (Rom. 1:25). All of the scholars cover that up, just like Curtis Hutson did with his talk about “Ruckman’s rantings” when he should have faced the issue.

10.  Only the King James Bible admits the Jews have a right to ask for “a sign” since their national life begins with signs (see 1 Cor. 1:22).

11.  Only a King James Bible warns you that there are men who “corrupt the word of God” (2 Cor. 2:17). The corrupters who put out the NKJV, the ASV, the NASV, the RV, the RSV, the NRSV, and the NIV recognize their “area code number” immediately. The old Book had rung their number, so they removed the word “corrupt.”

12.  Only the King James Bible points out clearly that a man who is counting on the Law to justify him in this age is not saved, nor ever was (Gal. 5:4). All the other versions do something with the verse to intimate that he may have once known Christ.

13.  Only the King James Bible retains the good old four-letter words in Philippians 3:8, 21, since these verses deal with human righteousness and human nature.

14.  Only the King James Bible points out that God wants your “affections,” not your mind, on heavenly things (Col. 3:2). All the “heady, highminded” (2 Tim. 3:4) and “godly” anti-King James boys decided their minds were more important than their hearts, so they’re going to keep their affections down here and just put their minds in Heaven.

15.  Only the King James Bible warns the Christian about the “appearance of evil” (1 Thess. 5:22). The term “appearance” occurs nowhere in any English Bible on earth translated by any scholar since 1901. It is a “King James Onlyism” to cite Bobby Jones III. He would say anything to protect the image of his institution—and the image stinks.

16.  Only the King James Bible tells you that the main sin of modern Fundamental Christian celebrities and Bible revisers is “supposing that gain is godliness” (1 Tim. 6:5). This reading cannot be found in any English Bible on this earth since 1901 but an Authorized Version. To cover up this American Laodicean sin, it is perfectly carried out with 100% collusion from every Conservative, Evangelical, and Fundamental scholar on the continent because they all coveted money, numbers, and publicity.

17.  Finally, only the King James Bible command you to “study . . . the word of truth” and rightly divide it (2 Tim 2:15). If that weren’t enough, it’s the only Bible on earth that commands you to “search the scriptures” (John 5:39). If you were a “King James Only” fan, you would know those two things which no Greek scholar on earth knows, or can find out. They are both “advanced revelations” obliterated by the work of godly Christian scholars since 1901.

You will find these truths in the Authorized Version, and you won’t find them any place else. Hang on to the Book! Don’t let some egotistical pipsqueak on a billion-dollar campus ridicule you out of your faith in the Book just because he’s stupid and scared.

The “King James Only” heresy turns out to be the only teaching that would keep you from assimilating heresy. It can keep you from attacking the Deity of Christ, from giving an “appearance of evil,” from practicing covetousness, and from losing your understanding of the Holy Bible. “King James Onlyism” in its worst sense is the surest inoculation against AIDS—“Alexandrian Idiots Degrading Scripture.” See your doctor today in John 14:23 and 16:13.
