Hell Q&A

By YBible

Why would a loving God send someone to Hell?

Answer: If a judge let a lawbreaker go free the judge would be guilty. God is sinless and holy. If He did not judge us for our sins He wouldn’t be a God of perfect justice.

“He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.” - Deuteronomy 32:4

“Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face.” - Psalms 89:14

Does God want people to go to Hell?

Answer:

“Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live.” - Ezekiel 33:11

“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” - 2 Peter 3:9

“Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth” - 1 Timothy 2:4

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” - Romans 6:23

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” - John 3:16

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” - Matthew 11:28

Did Jesus teach about Hell?

Answer: Jesus warned about Hell more than anyone else in the Bible.

“And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” - Matthew 10:28

“And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.” - Matthew 25:46

“Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.” - Mark 9:46

"So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.” - Matthew 13:49-50

What is Hell?

Answer: Hell is to be separated from God; forever tormented in fire.

"Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;" - 2 Thessalonians 1:9

"And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night," - Revelation 14:11

Why was Hell created?

Answer: Hell was created “for the devil and his angels” it was not intended for man until man also sinned. You can’t be with God in Heaven while still in your sins.

"Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:" Matthew 25:41 KJV

Where is Hell?

Answer: Currently in the heart of the earth.

“For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.” - Matthew 12:40

“They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation.” - Numbers 16:33

“Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming…Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.” - Isaiah 14:9, 15

What is the final form of Hell?

Answer: Hell will be transferred to the lake of fire after the great white throne judgment.

“11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” - Revelation 20:11–15

The lake of fire is called “the second death.”

“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” - Revelation 21:8

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” - Romans 10:13
